Living with Sickle Cell Anemia

I must say I haven’t been doing good for a while, but I have been pushing it to the side and praying that it pass. Guess stress really do know how to get to me and my weary body. If you didn’t know the cold doesn’t do my body justices whatsoever. I couldn’t imagine living in a state that’s colder than Alabama. You probably thinking it don’t get cold here, maybe you right. But since I’m not fond of cold I can’t agree with you. I actually wrote a poem, that I will share.

Pain you have return

I’m praying you leave me

I’m hoping GOD hears my

prayer.

I done stress myself

before classes started

I done lost a love one

and mourn to my

chest tighting up

Pain you need to go

I’m praying for pain

free month

Headaches please vanish

You making it hard to

concentrate with my studies

Back pain…

Not today. tomorrow

or this month

Tears

please go away

I have cried enough

I choke back tears

GOD

Thank You

sometimes that’s all I can say

Pain leave my body

today.

  1. Beautiful poem and I feel it in my heart. Well, may God bless and help you always. You would NEVER want to live here in Michigan. I can’t even stand it here. If not for my little one here I’d go tropical, the place of my dreams and inspiration. 🙂

  6. I just read up on the disease (thank you for educating me)

I can relate. After an accident 6 years ago I live with constant pain I will never get rid of it and no medicines help.

    Your words inspire me.

Until two years ago all I wanted to do was to get rid of the pain and I forgot to live. Now I accepted the pain and do things even if the pain increases util it becomes unbearable.
That way at least I live 😉

Reading what you are going through and how bravely you handle it makes my own struggle easier somehow.

Thank you for writing about it. Especially in beautiful poetry

    Perfect love and good luck

      1. You are welcome.
The pain is just pain – I know it cant really hurt me, as I reside in my heart and not my body. Something the pain made me realize 🙂

Yes your poetry helps. I have read several by now.
        Thank you

  7. this post brought tears to my eyes…i too live in pain and know that it is a tough teacher at times. But I often say pain is the exclamation point at the end of an answered prayer. So pain becomes a prayer for those who so need to know the love of God. It’s a prayer that can be lived with Jesus for others. God Bless you poeticjourney…you are in my prayers. (i’m from alabama too! 🙂

  8. Hi There. I can imagine when someone is living with a condition log term many many people have “the solution” on “what you should do”. I do not want to be another of those, and nor do I want to minimise the journey you have taken thus far … long term illness is tough. Bethel Church Redding California have healing rooms where I believe they have seen healings of this condition, also the pod casts that come out of there are magnificent in holding on in such challenges … in the meantime know that a lone woman, a stranger on the other side of the globe, prays and stands with you in agreement for your healing in Jesus name. Blessings, God is good.

  10. Your name ‘PoeticJourney’ is beautiful – just that your journey I see involves pain but you don’t call yourself ‘PainfulJourney’. Great attitude, strong spirit, lovely page. 🙂
