thumbnailSCDHello Everyone,  I have been in hospital since Friday! I know its been awhile since I posted on my illness. Thursday Night, I got slap with pain in my right leg, but was hoping it would go away on its own. But early Friday Morning, and ended up getting worse and led me to ER and later on getting put in hospital. I havent had this kind of pain since I was in my teens, and I must say my early teens, broughts tears to my eyes. I couldnt walk, I can walk better today then I could a few days ago. Thank you Lord! When I posted a poem on my birthday, Fighting 2 Leave, I cant have tranfusion, so Im praying that my blood count comes back up. They was in process of looking for my blood type, but like I told them I cant have transfusion. it would do more harm to me then good.I have had some great nurses and of course doctors as well. I have a lil nut of nurse right now. Just something abou that woman. I may have to get to know her lil more. Shes the only new nurse  I done had so far, the others I done seen once before. I got a beautiful surprise for Fathers Day. I thought I wasnt going to see my dad, and he surprise me when he walk through the door with the lil ones and my brother and mom. I call him early yesterday morning to tell him I love him and Happy Fathers Day. First time been away from my ole man on Fathers Day. I pray all the fathers had a lovely day, and all the mothers who stepping in to do both the jobs as well. God Bless 🙂

Living With Sickle Cell Anemia…

thumbnailSCDI’m so thankful for all the prayers and comments and even the likes, truly touch my heart. I had been sick for over a month, and trying to stay strong while in school, but got to the point I just couldn’t take it anymore. Ended up at the E.R Monday afternoon, let me tell you, that was the longest time I ever had to wait to be seen. If I was in the mood to  write a story on E.R, that would be one of them, with so many lovely and not so lovely stories to share with you all around the world. Lets just say, I didn’t get seen to about 7:30 that night, yep you read correctly and yes I type correctly. I was not a happy person, let me tell you. I got admitted but didn’t get put on the floor to the next morning. I was blessed with kind doctor and lovely nurses, and some cute male nurses if I do say so myself 🙂 I had transfusion, only one unit, which I’m thankful for. My doctor is smart now, he starts ahead of time to look for my blood. Whew, because you know I be still in their waiting, so im home, with the love one’s. I really wasn’t in the mood to post from hospital. I basically just got some rest, because I havent been sleeping since I havent been feeling good. I was my first hospital stay since the new year, so that’s truly a Blessings. If you was with me last year, you know how much that means to me and where I’m coming from. Right now, I’m doing some catch up with my studies, so hopefully soon as I’m caught up or when the term is over I can give blogging some more of my attention. I have read all the comments, just haven’t had time to approve them. I can honestly say my hemoglobin was good before I got put in but my retic count wasn’t because I was in so much pain, it end up dropping and he though I would need 2 units of blood. I know I’m everywhere with this post, sorry about that. I try to do another one real soon to keep you all updated. I do have doctor appointed in a few days, to see how everything going on. I pray all is well with each and every one of you. God Bless 🙂

I’m in need of transfusion, I have to get 2 units as of right now. I never been in hospital over Christmas Holidays, so if I’m still here, this be the first time. I done had some great nurse, who I done had before. Well really don’t have much to say as of right now, hope to have more to say in next post. I hope everyone have a good Christmas, and Happy Holidays! God Bless 🙂

Doctor Appoitnment (Update)

Good Morning,

I know I was supposed to do this a few days ago, I have been busy trying to get the last-minute studying in, and have to be honest I had my head in a good novel, that I couldn’t put down! 🙂 So I’m a book-worm, feels good to be able to read some more like I use 2. It actually went well, it was basically a check up since I got out the hospital. I really havent been feeling my best, so that was another reason to go as well. My blood count is still in the 7’s, I must admit it’s not the best but I’m so thankful it’s not a 6. I probably would be back in the hospital, which I must say it feels like my home away from home lately. Thats sad to say, I know. But if you new on my JOURNEY, YOu don’t know I have been in the hospital every month since September, I believe I have had a transfusion, ever since then as well. I have to say trying not to worry since I haven’t been feeling my best. I have to put it all on GOD hand.  Oh yea I do have new primary doctor, I know I mention that back awhile. If you wondering if my old doctor gave the okay and sent my referral heck no, he even call me while I was in the hospital to ask if it was true that I wanted to change primary doctor. I said yes.  It was actually his wife and she had the nerves to have attitude. Even the doctor I have now, even call him to get it and still nothing, or you surprise? You know it took a long time to get him to fax the information over to see the sickle-cell specialist. But last month I took the time to call my insurance to change the doctor, so it kicks in next month.

Day 4-7, Living With Sickle Cell Disease

I do hope everyone had a good weekend and Easter. JESUS IS THE REASON. I’m still in the hospital, I haven’t got the okay to go home, so hoping to get it in the morning. Thank You all for the prayers and kind words of encouragement. The last time I posted about the hospital I receive 1 unit of blood, it was touch and go for a while because my count didnt wont to go up. I was so happy to hear it went up, but still low. I’m hoping it be 8 by the morning. I guess when they come around in the morning and wake me out my sleep I shall find out. Everything still not top-notch, but I’m alive and that all that matter. I was really shock that I got sick so soon and had to get transfusion when I just got one a few weeks ago. I was at the point of throwing in the towel, because I was just tired of hearing my blood count was low and like it wasn’t going to go anywhere. I must say I actually enjoying all the rest I’m getting, gave me time to catch up on homework when I had the strength to go there. 🙂 I have had some good nurses while I’m here so that always a plus. Have met some new one’s as well, and met some ole one’s I met long time ago. I’m not in much pain as I was when I came in, just a little every now and then.  I hope I didn’t leave anything out. I must say Im so thankful to have my port, because I know I wouldnt be able to handle getting poke and stuck when it came to getting blood work done! God Bless Each & Everyone Of You 🙂

Day 1-3,Living With Sickle Cell Anemia

I have being in hospital ever since Monday, I haven’t been feeling my best since the weekend and the pain got worse. I actually had doctor appointment Tuesday and was going to wait it out, but since I couldn’t get in touch with my ole primary doctor so I can get referral to go to my new one. I decided to cancel and go to E.R. Lets just say my lab came back fast because it was consider critical low. I’m not feeling my best still. I have to get transfusion. It actually was 6.9 when I arrive then that night it drop. Its taking longer this time for my blood, as you all know its hard to find my blood type. I haven’t been feeling my best, but decided to go head and share with each and every one of you. I’m so touch by all your comments and prayers. I do have some great nurses and doctors, that taking good care of me. I’ll try to keep you all updated from here on out. I do hope everyone is doing good. God Bless 🙂

Ups & Downs

Up & Down

Down & Up

My body can’t make up its mind

to stay on the up and up

Telling myself not to stress

and make it worse

Transfusion was pointless

blood pressure

playing with me

All I want to do is scream

That wouldn’t help me any

Up & Down

Down & Up

What’s really going on

Is my body betraying me

running through my mind

Up & Down

Down & Up

Not sure if I like the title, just yet. Still working process, do let me know what you all think!

Day 5,Living With Sickle Cell Anemia

Good Afternoon, Had rough night! I’m getting use to the port, actually started using it yesterday. So happy that I don’t have to get stuck anymore! YAY! Had accident with one of the nurses last night, I thought I had lost my pc. She knock my poor baby off the table and hit the hard floor. So happy she didn’t break because she not even two months ole yet. The nurse was like I’m not worry about buying you another one, I can do that. I just don’t want you losing your school work.  So I receive a unit of blood last night, because they were worry about it dropping some more. I don’t know when I’m going home just yet. I’m still having some pain, which isn’t a good thing. 🙂 I did receive good news my count went up with the one unit. I was worry that it wouldn’t go up much since last time it didn’t move much. Sad to say little lady still not taking my calls. I don’t know how I feel about that. I don’t know if she think I turn my back on her and not coming back or she just holding a grudge on me. I can’t wait to get home so I can have a serious talking with her. I enjoyed hearing my little man try to talk while on the phone. More like whine because his uncle took his fork from him. I can’t believe I’m missing them this much. 😦  I know I say I’m thankful all the time for all the encouraging words and prayers from you all. It truly does mean a lot to me. I shall keep you all updated on when I go home and whatnot. I know I’m off to the end of the month with school.  I must admit I’m excited about that. God Bless 🙂
