My Love Journey P. 14

Hello and Welcome to My Love Journey, if you new make sure to check the other post out with the same title just different number.

I know its been awhile since I posted in My Love Journey, but have been inspired to do a few post, so let’s get started. Before I got sick last month, I spent an evening with the ladies. We had a good time, but I truly knew I would’ve been home getting some rest. Anyways, so had talk with a close friend about can we have 2 much standard when it comes to dating? Some of you probably think, PJ that’s not possible. But sometimes we have high standards and when that person come close to been that Mr/Mrs.. Right, that one flaw just throw us all off and change our mind about them. I’m not saying we should settle for less, because that’s just not right in my book and it shouldn’t be right in your book either. I know no one who  is perfect, but only GOD! I have flaws, and heck I love my flaws. So Back to the question at hand, do you believe we can  have 2 much standards when it come to dating? And if so or not, do feel me in on your thoughts.

I love to hear from my fellow followers, so do share your opinion/thoughts on this situation. I surely can’t wait to hear from ya’ll. If I have forgotten something, I make sure to comment to your question

  1. I would say we can have too high of standards sometimes, but for me I didn’t when I was younger and therefore had that horrible first marriage. So I now know where I went wrong 🙂 I am so happy now, with Mr. Right!! I think sometimes also, that we know in our hearts what is right for us. That’s just my opinion though. I would say to anyone, be careful and pay attention for those famous “red flags” !!

  2. Sometimes peoples rules are so stiff and unwavering that it sabotages any hope of having a relationship.

Ex. My friend is dating a guy and is head over heels for him. After getting intimate with him she discovers that he’s a Republican and she freaks. Upon telling me this I just look and her and say, “And?”.

She goes on about how Republicans believe this and that. I respond by saying, “Everything was fine before you knew he was a republican. What’s changed, is he really any different now?”

She knew I was right. Faith & politics, sigh. I get that we all have standards that we’d like others to live up to, but does the love of our life have to have EVERYTHING on the list to qualify. Funny, I thought this was supposed to be a relationship, not “qualifying for government grant”.

Sometimes people are right to want more, but sometimes we are just downright ridiculous with our demands. I should write a song called “I’m in love with a dictator”, or “Shopping for love”.

    1. Well Well Well My Mr. Wandering MInd,

Glad to see you drop in on my Love Journey and share your thoughts. You made good point and I would love to hear that song, that would be truly a hit. Sometimes I believe we truly put to much in picking a date. Nobody is perfect, so that mean we have to take the good with the bad. Its just mean dodn’t be fool and take what we shoudn;t take. And let me tell you something that would not have bn a cool ideal for your friend to stop dating the guy she with. Trust I done had my moments, but of course sense got snap into me and I woke up! lol. I do hope all is well with you. God Bless 🙂

  3. Here we are on your Love Journey again and PJ I must say I was missing it! 🙂 It’s a kind of tough one for me, I got with Dave when I was 16 and did date a few losers or not too good types. It was the thing of keeping my standards and seeing how Dave treated me with respect and all. Those other guys didn’t, so it was clear and simple to me that Dave was the right one. But again, I believe in my heart and Dave’s we knew we were soulmates. So, wonder if my answer is all that good? Also, you know Autumn and I always had our parents say “never settle for less than you deserve”. I see Mr. Wandering Mind and Autumn left very good answers and good things to think about, too!

  4. I believe it is impossible to have too many standards for dating when they all agree with God’s Holy Word. I also believe we can be too picky when we just insist on having our own way and satisfying every little phobia that is not at all Scripture-based. If we pray and meditate and associate with spiritual brothers and sisters engaged in service to others, we WILL find that soul-mate, the one who matches GOD’s list for us!

  5. PoeticJourney, I think we all have different standards as humans. However, I believe the one standard is our alignment with God’s commandments. I believe if we give ourselves to God first and find a mate who also believes in God and His commandments to us. Nowadays, we put man first then when things get rough we ask for God’s help. I truly believe God will direct your path if you ask Him and wait.

If a guy is pushing up on the goods and no ring is on the finger then the relationship is starting wrong. I know this seems to not be the norm to wait on God but it should be. I realize this is not always easy to do, but if you trust God then trust Him before trusting man. Ask God if the timing is right, if the person is who He has for you. Remember God has the blueprint of His plans for us.

Always discuss your beliefs and the guys beliefs together. Usually this eliminates the headaches. See if their actions align with their words. Hopefully this gives you some insight. Wishing you the best in your walk down the right path with the help of the Lord. I have a post on the menu bar titled Adversity at the bottom called Are You Marrying or Married to Mr. Right. This goes in detail and may be helpful too.

    Blessings

  6. Hi PJ,

Being that I’m slow in responding, I think everyone had great answers and opinions, so all I can say is I agree with not settling for less, you know what is right for you and when Mr. Right comes along, you’ll know it. That doesn’t mean you won’t kiss a few frogs before the prince arrives, though. I believe that’s just part of life’s process of truly finding out who you are and what you really want in a partner who will stay around through thick and thin. I hope this helps! xo
